Getting that boat out for the first
time this season?
Below is a handy list of some things to
check before getting out on the water. Should you be
uncertain of how to perform any of these maintenance steps, be
sure to check with your boat mechanic. It is always a good idea to
have a certified mechanic check your boat out before your first
time out on the water. This could prevent ruining your

Maintenance Checklist:
Outboard Motors:
- Spark plugs must be replaced
- Inspect plug wires
- Verify gear lube is adequate
- Inspect tank, fuel lines, primer bulb
- All movable parts should be lubricated
- Check prop for damage
Water System:
- Flush water tank
- Check water system and pump
Electrical System and Components:
- Check :
- all navigation lights
- battery water level
- terminals for corrosion, clean and
lubricate
- gauges for operability
- electronics for proper
operation
- bonding system
- recharge batteries / replace batteries
- Inspect all wiring for wear
- Insure you have spare fuses
- Insure you have spare
bulbs
Trailer:
- Verify your registration is current & obtain
required paperwork or stickers
- Check
- brakes
- tire pressure
- tire wear
- rollers and pads
- test lights and electrical
